The temple Located in Upper Egypt in ancient Thebes and also known as Waset was built by Amenhotep III (1390-52 BC) but completed by Tutankhamun (1336-27 BC) and Horemheb (1323-1295 BC) and then added to by Rameses II (1279-13 BC). Toward the rear is a granite shrine dedicated to Alexander the Great (332-305 BC). The avenue of Sphinxes Connect Luxor temple and Karnak temple.
Connecting the site to modern era Abu Haggag Mosque is located within the temple, it stands on the ancient columns that were one buried. Luxor Temple was converted to a church by the Romans in 395 AD, and then to a mosque around 640 AD, This site has hosted more than 3,400 years of continuous religious worship.
